For years if you had a bad draft and needed a running back you could simply scan the waiver wire, and find whoever was in the Broncos back field. With Mike Shanahan's offense you were virtually guaranteed a 1,000 yard rusher plus a handful of touchdowns. Now that Mike has taken his talents to Washington D.C. the same can be expected. Clinton Portis was on several peoples radar as a late round sleeper who would get tons of carries running for his old coach. However, Portis is out 4-6 weeks, and now Ryan Torain is #1 on the Redskins depth chart.
Last week against the Eagles, being used as a change of pace back, Torrain ran 18 times for 70 yards a touchdown. Now, these aren't crazy fantasy numbers like Arian Foster has been putting up, but its a good option if you need someone because of a bye week in which 4 teams are off or your supposed stud is killing you, er Ray Rice.
This week the Redskins play the 25th ranked rushing defense in Green Bay giving up just a touch over 118 yards per game. Pick up Torain, and watch as your opponent wishes he would have claimed him first.
