Pickup of the Week

Highly touted rookie running back Ryan Matthews suffered a high ankle sprain during last week's rout of Jacksonville. Early reports were that if needed Matthews could have re-entered the game, but Chargers coach Norv Turner kept him out to prevent further harm. However, medical reports coming out of Chargers central, via NFL network's Jason La Cantora, state that Matthews is still hampered by his high ankle sprain and is unlikely to play this Sunday against Seattle.

Thus, pick up Mike Tolbert who ran for 108 yards on 18 rushes and two touchdowns last week in relief for Matthews. Tolbert is slated to get the start Sunday, and provides a great rb2 or flex option. If you are fortunate enough to pick up Tolbert off the waiver wire, be sure to keep him handy on your bench for the rest of the season. If Matthews, as a rookie, is already experiencing an injury knocking him out for at least a week you can bet to see him on the injury list again.
